The Yellow-shouldered Blue-fronted Amazon (Amazona aestiva xanthopteryx) is a striking subspecies of the Blue-fronted Amazon parrot, native to parts of Brazil, Paraguay, and northern Argentina. It is admired for its vibrant colors, intelligence, and strong personality.

Brief Description:

The Yellow-shouldered Blue-fronted Amazon has a bright green body, a distinctive blue patch on the forehead, and noticeable yellow feathers on the shoulders (wing coverts), which give this subspecies its name. Many birds may also show yellow on the face and red on the wings, creating a beautiful combination of colors. They typically grow 14–15 inches (35–38 cm) in length and have a strong curved beak suited for cracking nuts and seeds.

These parrots are highly intelligent, social, and playful, known for forming strong bonds with their owners. They are also excellent talkers and can learn many words and sounds with training. Because of their lively personality and loud calls, they do best with experienced bird owners who can provide plenty of attention and mental stimulation.
